March 26, 2020 MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DIANNE CARTER
Happy Thursday, WRMS Families!
Well...I believe we all survived day one of this new normal! I have to say a gigantic thank you to you as our parents and also to our staff. I have genuinely been overwhelmed by the amount of positivity and teamwork that I have seen over the course of the last couple of weeks. It started at the district level before we rolled things out to our teachers. Then when we added our teachers to the mix, they took off with it and have been working so hard to make this the best it can be for our kids. My biggest moments of joy have been seeing kids and teachers via zoom today! It was great to see everyone so excited as I dropped into a few classes. I also received several screenshots of classes. One teacher sent me a pic of her outfit for the day. From the waist up, she looked like it was a normal day at school. And...she was wearing shorts. She took things a step further than I have been. I'm in shorts, T-shirt and hat most days! It's amazing! Seriously though… Possibly the most powerful thing that will come out of this experience is the fact that we are a learning community in every way right now. Every single person has to lean on someone in some way. We all (students, parents, staff at all levels) are literally learning together. Isn't that what education is supposed to be? I love it!!!!!!!
Now for a few information items:
I think that is all for now. There are many, many things swimming around in my head, but these were the things that I wrote down throughout the week. Along the way, please do NOT hesitate to reach out if you have questions, if someone is not well or if you need anything. I appreciate those of you who have shared feedback so far. As we have said...we are all figuring this out together as we go! It is exciting! You all get some rest this weekend, enjoy some time outside and tell those you share a home with that you love them - even if you start to get cabin fever.
Enjoy!

NEWS Although the physical classrooms may be temporarily closed, student learning is very much continuing in the district. Eanes ISD has created systems of support for the K-12 Remote Learning experience. The Eanes ISD Counseling Services department has compiled a list of resources for families to utilize during this time. Students, and adults, may also notice an increase in their screen time. It is important to remember to take breaks and be physically active throughout the day. Eanes ISD is closely monitoring reports and information regarding growing concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Understandably, it is an issue for which we are all concerned and are following closely. SCHOOL CALENDAR Saturday - March 28, 2020 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM WEST RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
