October 3, 2019 We celebrated our WONDERFUL WRMS Custodians for National Custodian's Day by providing them with a yummy banana split bar!! Also, our generous Wildcat Club surprised them with breakfast tacos and other goodies! West Ridge would not be what it is without this amazing crew! MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DIANNE CARTER
Happy Thursday, All!
I hope you have had an amazing week. We certainly have had a good one here at WRMS! One of our focuses this year as a faculty is working our way towards being a better TEAM. I thought back to the most successful teams that I coached over the years, and there were several things that were true of each. We knew each other and trusted each other deeply. We celebrated each other's successes. We always had each other's back and supported each other through challenges. We held each other accountable. We were focused on the same goal. I share all of this because my favorite moments this week had to do with people working together as a solid team. A few examples: our football and volleyball teams winning some tight ones recently...a team of a general education teacher, special education teacher and a special education TA working seamlessly to support ALL of our kids...a team of math teachers and a counselor working to make lemonade out of lemons. One more time...I am thankful to get to work with amazing people - especially on the challenging days.
Now for a few information items:
Monday - Hat day
I believe that is all for this week. I bet you have already heard, but it is now October! That means the EEF drive to fund teachers has begun! More information coming soon! I hope you get to have some quality rest and relaxation time this weekend.
Enjoy!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER A MESSAGE FROM THE WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS Dear Westlake Parents,
Please join us this Thursday, October 3rd, for the fourth talk in our 2019-2020 Speaker Series.
This week, co-founder and skills trainer at WholeMind, Sol Wooten, will present "Connection: The Greatest Skill You Can Teach Your Child!"
Sol works with kids and young adults to help them boost their productivity and overall well-being. In this presentation, she will address the recent rise in loneliness and what parents can do to help their children establish fulfilling relationships and a sense of belonging within their communities.
As a reminder due to parking constraints on the HS campus, please join us at Westbank Library from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. Westbank Library is located at 1309 Westbank Drive. The library has given parents permission to park on the grass if necessary.
Unable to make this presentation? Don't worry, we will have the video (and handouts) posted for you to watch (or listen to) here!
Be sure to mark your calendars for all the upcoming presentations! We hope to see you Thursday.

It's a GREAT Day to Be a Wildcat! Jennifer Grimes and Sonja Dieterichs WRMS Wildcat Club Co-Presidents NEWS Inevitably something will go wrong in our lives …. whether you are a child, parent, teacher, coach … yes, even superintendent. They also saw a presentation from Cedar Creek Elementary principal Susan Fambrough on a new initiative they implemented this year. Full and part-time positions are available including Bus Drivers, Child Nutrition Specialists, Easy (Child) Care Providers, Teacher Aides, Special Education Teacher Aides, and Substitutes.
