MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DIANNE CARTER

Happy Thursday, Wildcat Families!

Well…  We have made it halfway through this school year.  For me, it has been a flash. At the same time, I feel like I have been here for way more than a few months.  I hope you all have had half as much fun as I have. Your children are incredible. I love that this week has had multiple opportunities for kids and teachers to express their appreciation for each other and connect with each other in authentic ways.  We had the tissue box project in science, the staff appreciation night at the girls' basketball games (the stands were packed), and the Secret Santa reveal breakfast today. I love watching our kids and teachers enjoy time together in completely different settings.  It helps us all remember and realize we are all just humans doing our best.

Now a fun tidbit of info:

  • Season of Giving - Yes...one more email about the Season of Giving.  Your kids watched THIS VIDEO wrapping things up in WCT today.  You should check it out.

Now a more serious tidbit of info:

  • Many of you already know that e-cigarettes have become a significant problem in young teens and those who are almost teenagers.  Please check out THIS MESSAGE from the Surgeon General.  It is important that we as adults are educated so that we can help our kids know how to make good choices when it comes to topics like this.
    • Dr. Steve Kelder, EISD Parent and SSHAC Member, will talk about the use of e-cigarettes by youth at the January 9th SSHAC Meeting in the Board Room at 4:00 p.m.  Parents are always invited to attend our SSHAC meetings.

Now…  It is time for a break.  I am sure there is a huge range of plans within our community for how we will spend the next couple of weeks.  I do hope that the common thread for all is quality time with family and friends - sharing stories, sharing laughter, and spending time together around a big table.  See you in 2019!

Enjoy!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Annual WRMS Staff Cookie Exchange! We had lots of yummy treats to share with teachers and staff as well as the gift of a $50 HEB gift card. To all of you who baked, shopped, assembled cookie trays and supported the WRMS No Hassle Fundraiser – we thank you for allowing us to show our teachers how much we appreciate them during this special time of the year!!!

A big THANK YOU to Julie Goel for organizing and overseeing the cookie exchange. As you can see, it was a big success!

LOST AND FOUND

There were so many nice things still in lost and found before the Thanksgiving break that we decided to give you a second chance. Please have your child (or you) come by and see if you have anything there waiting to come home with you. All items have been moved to the foyer, so no badge necessary to come take a look. EVERYTHING will be donated if not picked up by Friday, the 21st.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Wishing all of our WMRS Wildcats and their families a joyous and restful winter break - enjoying the company of the ones you love.
