MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DIANNE CARTER

Happy Thursday, WRMS Families!!!

We have almost made it through another great week.  Can you believe we are already over a quarter of the way through this year!?!  I can, and I can't. I know that many of you have enjoyed watching your Wildcat do something amazing this week (or last week).  Let's see...we had band concerts, football, cross country, orchestra concerts, and choir concerts (last week). Each of these events are opportunities to see our kids thrive in something they love, and it is refreshing.  I have to admit that the event that made me laugh the hardest was last night's orchestra concert. Many interesting creatures lead by Pikachu and Mary Poppins provided some great entertainment. I will leave it at that. :-)

Now for a few info items:

  • MAP Scores - The fall MAP test by NWEA screening window has concluded for Eanes ISD. Your student is receiving a MAP Progress Report through English class to deliver to you tomorrow (10/26), so please ask them for it!  This first progress report includes scores from last fall when Eanes ISD first administered the screener through this fall in both reading and math.  The MAP Growth reading and math screeners are only one source of your student's progress. We have included a Parent Guide developed primarily by NWEA which also has some clarifying points pertaining to Eanes ISD.  We encourage you to explore the guide as well as the NWEA Parent Toolkit  website to interpret the data included in the report.  If you have further questions, please contact: Lindsey Taylor (ltaylor2@eanesisd.net) or Amy Sharp (ASharp2@eanesisd.net).

  • State of the District - We would love to see as many of you as can come tomorrow at 9:00am in the Library!  Dr. Leonard will be here to share the State of the District address.

  • Concessions at Friday's Football Game - The concessions crew will purchase cans of soda, and do their best to chill them.  They will serve chilled cans of soda with cups - no ice. There will be no ice or fountain drink service.  The selection will be limited to a few types of canned soft drinks. They will also sell bottled waters, Powerades, and teas until they are sold out.  PTO Concessions will do their best to serve what they can for as long as they can. Just a heads up to "pack your patience and understanding" along with your school spirit.

  • October 31st - This is a no homework night so that you will all be free as families to consume large amounts of sugar together.  Also, if your Wildcat is wondering if they can wear a costume to school that day, the answer is that it will be allowed with a few rules that will not bend.  First, no weapons. Second, no masks or fully painted face - we need to be able to identify students by looking at their face. Third, in general, it should be "school appropriate".  If you are not sure about the appropriateness of your student's idea for a costume, feel free to give me a call. We can talk through it.

That is all the info for this week.  Last but not least… There have been several moments lately where I wonder if our kids have any idea what they are a part of.  I'm pretty sure many don't - truly understanding is technically beyond their years when it comes to fully appreciating how fortunate we are.  We are… I am… I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and soak up some sunshine!

Enjoy!
