WRMS Cheer Camp

2018/2019 WRMS CHEERLEADERS

WRMS Cheerleaders won the "Most Spirited" award at their UCA Camp this summer!

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DIANNE CARTER

Hello, Wildcat Families!!!

We have enjoyed two amazing days to kick off the 2018-19 school year here at West Ridge MS.  Yesterday, I was inspired by the excited faces I greeted in the morning. I managed to make it into almost every classroom throughout the day, and I was entertained by the various ways teachers start to build relationships on the first day.  My favorite question I heard was, "Would you rather be dropped into a huge pool filled with marshmallows or jello?" I'll let you ponder that one…

Now, please hang in there as you read through some information items:

Schedule Changes:  Our counselors are still working through the last few schedule change requests AND getting classes as balanced as possible.  Please remind your student to continue to follow the schedule that is in Skyward until they receive notice that it has changed.  We appreciate your patience as they work through these as fast as they can. We also appreciate your understanding in the case that a change may not be possible.

Medications:  If your child needs to have medication at school - whether prescription or over the counter - please bring it to our nurse, Mrs. Murphy, rather than having your child carry it around with them.  Yes, this even applies to things like Advil or Tylenol.

Backpacks:  Yes, students at WRMS may choose to carry backpacks this year.  We do still encourage them to use their lockers rather than carry them to every single class, but there is no "ban" on backpacks.  Also, they do need their SMART tags for the bus, and connecting it to the backpack with the provided loop is a great way to keep up with it.

SMART Tags:  Speaking of SMART tags…  If your student does not yet have his or her SMART tag, they are available in the front office to be picked up.

Before School and After School:  We take the safety of our kids very seriously.  Please consider the following as you plan your family's day and drop off and pick up your Wildcat:

Crosswalks - Please watch carefully for the various crosswalks as you drop off or pick up your                        student(s), and be sure you don't block them.

Office Hours - Our office is open from 7:45am - 4:15pm.  Please do not be surprised if the                    phone is not answered outside of these hours.

Morning - We are not staffed to provide supervision in the morning prior to 8:00am.  The only                          students that should be in the building prior to 8:00am are those who are arriving for athletics                          practice or previously scheduled tutoring.

Afternoon - Unless a student is staying after school for an activity, club, practice, or tutoring,                          we are not staffed to supervise them.  Please make arrangements to either pick them up after                          school (which ends at 4:00pm) or have them ride the bus.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at Back to School Nights next week:

Tuesday (8/28) 6th grade and Wednesday (8/29) 7th & 8th grade

Until then...ENJOY!
