West Ridge Reflections April 26, 2018 West Ridge Middle School Dianne Carter Named WRMS Principal MESSAGE FROM INTERIM PRINCIPAL ROBIN LOWE Parents, I am so pleased that Dianne Carter is going to be the new West Ridge principal! I hired Dianne as the Magnet Director for Kealing MS and had the pleasure of working with her for three years before I retired. (I stole her from Westlake HS where she was an AP!) She is a passionate lifelong learner who truly understands middle school students and their needs. Dianne is all about doing what is best for students and I can't think of anyone better for this position. She is a rock star! Have a great three-day weekend and we'll see everyone back on Tuesday! AMERICAN SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT LEAGUE COMPETITION Our GT 6th and 8th grade kids participate in the American Scholastic Achievement League Competition, which is a type of online quiz-bowl covering all core subject areas (plus two trivia questions). Students need to apply their knowledge and problem-solving skills to be successful. Chris W won the State Champion trophy in grade 8, and James G won the State Champion trophy in grade 6!! (The competition is only given in grades 6 and 8). Our 6th grade team is the NATIONAL Gold Medal "School Team" award winner. To determine the winners, the competition organizers take the top four scores from each grade and see how they compare to all of the other schools' top scorers in the country. James G, Akhil S, Shikar K, and Natalie K were grouped into this team, and they each won a medal engraved with their names on it for receiving the highest "team" score in the nation. Our 8th grade team is the NATIONAL Bronze Medal "School Team" award winner. Chris W, Rebecca B, Ben N, and Devan S were grouped into this team! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
