Faculty vs Students Basketball Game - NJHS Fundraiser for LLS
MESSAGE FROM INTERIM PRINCIPAL ROBIN LOWE
Good afternoon parents!
Yesterday afternoon, we had our first annual Faculty-Student Basketball game and it was a thriller! Our NJHS students coordinated the event as a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and they raised over $1200 with about 250 people in attendance. This was a completely student-led project from start to finish with a halftime show thrown in for good measure. We are so proud of our NJHS students for their efforts in making this event such a success! A big shout-out to our NJHS Co-Sponsors, Dominique Bayona and Brett Hotchkiss, for supporting and mentoring them.
As for the game itself, the staff held off the students until Eric Goode hit a half court buzzer beater to send the game into overtime. At that point, the vitality of the students outscored and outran our staff (not that they are old or anything!). So in the end, the students won the first annual game, but I know that next year the staff will be looking to even the score!

Only 15 days remain until Medieval Fest is upon us! As part of the 6th Grade Medieval History study unit, participation is mandatory. Students and volunteers are highly encouraged to dress up in authentic costumes. See below for costume resources/ideas.
WE STILL NEED A LOT OF VOLUNTEERS! This event is possible ONLY because of the amazing volunteers that organize and run the whole show.

FLYERS
Tickets are still available for the Musical! Shows that started last night, as the Westlake High School Choir and Technical Entertainment Crew present the Cole Porter musical, Anything Goes.
Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance on Saturday, Feb, 10 at 2p.m.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.westlakechoir.com If you have attended a WHS musical before you are aware of the high quality of these productions. If you have never attended one of our productions, we encourage you to make Anything Goes your first.
The story centers around madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London featuring some of the greatest musical theatre songs ever written -- "I Get A Kick Out Of You", "You're the Top", "Blow, Gabriel, Blow", "De-Lovely", and of course, "Anything Goes".
