West Ridge Reflections October 19, 2017 West Ridge Middle School WRMS Pep Rally - Friday the 13th MESSAGE FROM INTERIM PRINCIPAL ROBIN LOWE Parents, I am bringing to your attention an issue that we are hearing about more and more at the secondary level, which is vaping. Unfortunately, vaping is the new "cool" thing for many students to try. While we have not had any specific incidents of vaping here at school, we are hearing that middle school students are trying it. There is a program connected with UT that warns students about vaping and the dangers of e-cigarettes called Catch My Breath. Students taking Health will be exposed to the program during the course. However, I encourage all of you to take a moment and look at the website and I also encourage you to have those difficult conversations with your kids. Whether the conversation is about vaping, marijuana, sex, etc., it is important that your children hear your views on the subjects and not just the views of their friends. Should you have any questions about this or how to have these difficult conversations with your kids, please let us know. Our school counselors are a wealth of information and of course, I would be more than happy to talk to you as well. Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to donate to EEF so I don't lose the bet with HCMS!! Robin WILDCAT CLUB NEWS
